Socialists slam Fidesz EP campaign, claim it may be illegal

Fidesz’s European Parliament (EP) election campaign does not mention one word about the EU, Socialist caucus leader Attila Mesterházy said in a statement on Wednesday. The National Election Commission (OVB) should examine whether the Fidesz campaign has anything to do with EU issues, and if it does not, classify it as unlawful.

This is the pathetic and desperate wriggling of a hopeless party’s caucus leader, Fidesz deputy spokeswoman András Cser-Palkovics responded.

Meanwhile Socialist MEP candidate Zita Gurmai told reporters in Bonyhád that tightening child care allowance and benefit regulations had been “a painful decision”, but noted that Hungary has the longest maternity leave allowance in the EU.
