The operation of the radical trade union within the police force breaches the law, and the national police chief, Jozsef Bencze initiated legal proceedings at the prosecutor’s office whether it operates legally, the national police said on Thursday.
Police have just finished the investigation concerning the cooperation deal between TMRSZ (Ready-to-Act Trade Union) and the radical nationalist Jobbik party, that had been initiated by Justice Minister Tibor Draskovics on May 18.
“It is justly worrying if a political party – well-known for its extremist ideology – concludes a cooperation deal with a trade union of the police”, the Justice Ministry said in a statement then.
The activity of some representatives of the union, its statements with political content, the signing of a deal assuming political activity, and manifestations against service order and discipline together led to the conclusion that the operation of the trade union frequently endangers the performance of the police, and hence it is illegal, the statement by the national police said.
What so radical about trying to improve police work conditions. Fuckin lefties all they can do is pay for an independant private security firm from Israel but wont help service men in Hungarian police force with any benefits, a new recruit starts on a piddling 70 thousand forint a month nett, is that worth risking your life?
Snowwhite,
“What so radical about trying to improve police work conditions”
IMHO nothing!
The “radical” part is more the political connection to any political party. The big problem is not Jobbik, it would have been the same if would have been Fidesz also.
During the previous Fidesz-regime (1998-2004) I was stopped in the Balaton-area by Police. I was obviously driving with my fog-lights on and they wanted to write a report on that. My Hungarian wife did not like that idea and was after some discussion able to get the 2 Police Officers to accept her invitation to dinner in one of our restaurants in Budapest. Both Officers were from Bp, they were just sent down to Balaton to help out with traffic control.
6 months later they actually called my wife and the invitation stood, so she went down and fixed their dinner with the restaurant and spoke with them. one topic was of course corruption, which this was at least close to. Their explanation was that they started at 30.000 HUF and they needed to take bribes to survive, especially if they had a family. This was Fidesz-time and they blamed the Minister of Justice at that time, Pinter, for destroying the Police by cutting salaries etc.
Just as a comparison that everything was not so rosy, when the current Govt was in charge.
Exactly so if we pay the police more money less chance of corruption, so Jobbik have a positive solution here! at last we see eye to eye thanks idiot!
I do not think it is as easy as just raising salaries. It is also a question of raising the moral and ethics inside the Police Force and boosting Public Trust in the Police. Easier said than done and it take some years and there will be a need of replacing a number of ‘not so good’ Officers with new recruits.
It is also important that the Police consists of all parts of society, so more women and Roma are needed to be recruited. In such a situation is it important that the Police organisation, including Trade Unions, are supporting this integration. Here the connection to Jobbik does not come out good, then I do not think that Jobbik would support such an integration.
