Support for Hungary’s main opposition Fidesz and allied Christian Democratic Party (KDNP) at the upcoming European Parliamentary elections has grown further according to pollster Szazadveg-Forsense.
According to the report released on Friday, Fidesz-KDNP could win as many as 16 seats, while the governing Socialist Party is only expected to get five mandates. The radical nationalist Jobbik party could win one mandate, according to the poll.
The small liberal Free Democrats and conservative Democratic Forum are not expected to garner the minimum 5 percent of votes to make it to the EP.
Thirty-seven percent of respondents indicated support for Fidesz-KDNP, and ten percent said they favoured the Socialists, the report said, adding that the difference between the two parties had grown to 27 percent from 12 percent in April.
Concerning small parties, 6 percent support Jobbik, 3 percent the Free Democrats, one percent favours the new green LMP (Politics Can Be Different) and another one percent the Hungarian Communist Workers’ Party.
Of the representative sample of 1,000 adults, 56 percent said they would certainly cast their ballot at the EP elections on June 7.

It may be an intersting display of tacticle voting.
