Jobbik seeks to form “EU-realistic” group in EP

The radical nationalist Jobbik party’s three deputies will seek to initiate a new group of “EU-realists” in the European Parliament, Jobbik head Gabor Vona told reporters in Budapest on Wednesday.

Jobbik wants to be in a group with parties that oppose the European Union’s Lisbon Treaty and will avoid groups including “openly anti-Hungarian” parties, Vona said.

Jobbik’s top priority is to represent Hungarian employees and farmers, and small and medium-size businesses, as well as ethnic Hungarian communities in neighbouring countries, Vona said.

Vona confirmed that his party would send the first three names on its election list, Krisztina Morvai, Zoltan Balczo and Csanad Szegedi to the EP.
