Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán yesterday insisted that "there is one camp and one flag," despite the success of other right-wing parties in Sunday's elections. "We are pleased to see others join us, but where will they fit?" he wondered.
Fidesz has no intention of co-operating with any other party, and does not need to, as it is capable of governing alone, he said after the party executive wrapped up a two-day meeting in Alcsútdoboz.
Orbán added that those who voted for the Socialists or Jobbik on Sunday are embittered people in very difficult positions.
A new party structure is about to develop in Hungary and ordinary people expect one party to find a remedy for their woes, as the other party has destroyed itself, he remarked.
"We must deal with our own platform, steel our determination, and strengthen our social and foreign ties. We must gear up for the very difficult negotiations ahead, with the West, the EU, the IMF and the Russians. This is what we must concern ourselves with, this is our task," Orbán declared.
Orban your a wanker!!
So there will be no combined Jobbik-Fidesz lists in the 2010 General and Local Elections then?
As it was 2006.
If so, it will polarize the local organisation so people will have to choose. You cannot have both.
I would suspect the general Fidesz tactic is Fidesz-only lists and in the 2nd run the Jobbik-voters will vote for Fidesz anyway.
Just 'Vote-Cattle'.
Fucknose Viking! you idiot! You come of with some stupid arguments..
Realist,
Just prove me wrong, like coming with a Real argument instead.
Only stupid ex-Fidesz supporters that now turned to support Jobbik do not understand that Jobbik's main enemy from day one has been Orban and Fidesz.
Now Orban is challenges you guys to stand up and attack him and Fidesz, so the Fidesz members/voters have to choose.
Time to pay for the Free Lunch.
Viking@Here I go wasting time with you again, however so be it for today! Jobbik neither seeks nor needs an alliance with Fidesz,Orban rambles on about this issue all the time because Jobbik is the only thing holding him back from a total wipe out of the commies and libs.Maybe he does not like a REAL competition for the first time!
fabian,
Thanks for the answer.
You answered my question on future co-operation. The previous co-operation was merely for tactical reasons, similar with the '3rd Way' Election Alliance with MIEP in 2006.
I have no problem with that (not I think you will lose any sleep over that).
You did not lose any word in "Jobbik is the only thing holding him back from a total wipe out of the commies and libs"?
Fabian, yours is an excellent analysis. Almost ironically, the nationalist Jobbik pushes the nationalist stand Orbán and his party alone have been credited with until the rise of Jobbik. I see an interesting situation here, but I’d like to ask you rather than put it to you: Recall the recent accidental (but decisive) voting with the government, on the pensions issue, of Fidész members. Was this not too productive an accident to have been a real accident? And, once deprived of such a ‘balance of power’ opportunity for having the left wear the blame for the pensions ravage, will future ravages of this sort, in any area of policy, that would suit a Fidész government not be available to it? And would this prospect explain Fidész hostility to Jobbik?
Sophie@You hit the nail on the head! No really serious co-operation can happen now between Jobbik and ANY other party, maybe some local work only--they/we put out the hand of friendship but soon realised that self interest comes first with the established political parties here,hence-go it alone, all the way to victory!
And God speed, Fabian!
