Heck, if Jobbik comes to power, they would love to leave the EU and hate on everybody surrounding us (i.e. Serbs, Slovaks, Romanians, Austrians, Croats, Slovenes, and those pesky Ukrainian buggers). Historical Hungary is the most geographically consize, economically compact area Europe has ever known.

The “common sense” part was intended as intense sarcasm, which I thought was quite obvious but I guess I was mistaken. I expect Hungary to take small steps in the right direction which of course they are doing (disregarding the dissenting voices of semi to non-educated masses), in terms of accepting the current borders that they have been assigned. Borders change, especially in Europe, always have and always will. I don’t hear Germans agitating over the fact that much of what used to be Prussia is now Poland, and that Konigsberg is now Kaliningrad, Russia. Of course, the Germans are the type of people to realize their mistakes and work towards feasible solutions, which is what has made them the key player in Europe, along with Britain and France. Sure you have a handful of people much like yourself agitating for the return of land, but are you personally going to move to that land and shepherd your sheep for the rest of your life? What Hungarians should worry about (especially neo-con right-wingers) is not a return to pre-1918 borders, but if anything to keep a sense of cultural identity alive within the country we have today. As EU citizens we can all work in EU countries, live in EU countries, do everything as a Hungarian in Hungary as you would in Felvidék Slovakia or Erdély Romania. No doubt there will be people who throw racial slurs at you in these areas for being a Magyar, but such is the European mentality.

Don’t tell me you don’t throw slurs around, because you obviously do. If you’re scared of being called out in terms of ethnicity regardless of where you are in Europe let me tell you this: ethnic tensions and prejudice would remain whether the current countries ruled the former crown lands, or Hungary did. People like Orbán who think ethnic-Hungarians would be better off having citizenship, passports, and the right to work in Hungary are forgetting the major details. They are focusing on old sentiments to win votes, and forget that Hungary has the worst economy in all of E. Europe, and that diaspora Hungarians are far better off in the other countries currently than we are. By the way, I have talked to many Székely (the main point of contention for Jobbik types, the whole fuss over Erdély) and most of them want nothing to do with Hungary-proper. Székelyföld has never been and will never be “Hungarian land”, it will only the the land of the Székely Magyars and that’s how they like it, whether the government is seated in Bucharest or Budapest. PS – I should call myself Honfi and I will, because I am a compatriot till the end. Albeit, a compatriot with an informed opinion unlike some folks I could think of around here. By the way American Indians, just FYI, have a completely different situation. They have lived in the Americas for the past 30,000+ years - I don't think we can say the same for ourselves and Magyarország.

If you would like to reclaim old Magyar land, I personally would hedge my bets on going and checking out Khanty-Mansia okrug in Russia, where our linguistic relatives live. Much bigger in size, tons of economic resources, completely autonomous, and no pesky Slovaks, Romanians, Ukrainians, Serbs, or Jews for a thousand miles! This makes more economic sense to me, I think Jobbik should adopt this platform then I would definitely vote for them...

Nowhere near did they form a continuous entity what the Hungarians achieved in the Carpathian basin despite all odds.
