Lendvai: MSZP still not in favor of early elections

The ruling Socialist Party (MSZP) opposes holding the next parliamentary elections earlier than next spring, party leader Ildiko Lendvai told public television M1 on Friday.

“There won’t be early elections because we don’t want that and we have a majority in Parliament,” she said.

The Socialist party does not have a sufficient number of MPs to secure a majority, but, so far, it has managed to pass legislation thanks to the support of the liberal Free Democrats.

The Socialist leader said she agreed with Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai that Parliament should adopt next year’s central budget in November, a month ahead of the usual date.

The early approval of the budget would have nothing to do with early elections; it would only strengthen economic security and stability, she said.

Lendvai, who is fending off an attempt to mount a no-confidence vote at the party’s July 4 congress, said her party would like to specify its PM-candidate in the autumn, adding that five left-wing politicians would be convincing candidates.

The Socialist leader said that central bank governor Andras Simor would retain his post if he effectively enforced a principle which he has already signed up to, namely “moneys should be returned to Hungary, rechanneled into the Hungarian economy”.

Simor, who was accused by the opposition of pursuing offshore business activities, announced this month that he would sell his investments in Cyprus and repatriate his revenues to Hungary.

“The government is urging Hungary’s 100 richest businessmen to donate part of their wealth to a national “crisis management fund”. ??? (Budapest Times 25 June 2009)
The MSZP are also asking banks to suspend re-possession orders on mortgage defaulters.
What a shambles! The price of democracy is allowing a bunch of pirates to see out their term in office until Hungary is sold down the river completely and irrevocably.
And, at traitors gate, drowned in the never-ending corruption scandals that threaten to wipe Magyarorszag off the world, economic map, completely.
It matters not that the MSZP terrible twins Bajnai, and Gyurscany, have managed to reduce Hungary to a third world nation in less than five years.
Holocaust denial, Roma issues, kowtowing to the EU and IMF, apologizing to every Tom, Dick, and Csaba, for Hungary’s so-called misdemeanors of the past take precedence.
All this because the league of thieving bastards hope to receive more loan money from erstwhile Fagans who will want more than a “pound of flesh” in return.
    Pathetic. Pathetic. Pathetic.
When, and where, will it all end! In the deep blue ocean if this government is not removed from office immediately!

  2. Balint says:

Fair enough, and what are you doing about it?

  3. LentiTibor says:

Quite a lot, Balint! But that, my dear friend, is my business.
Stick to Hungarian politics on this site.
Those who continually rant and rave about unrelated issues are not interested in Hungary or Hungarians and should confine themselves to forums more in keeping with their arguments and preferences.
    What are you doing, Balint?
Besides attempting to challenge what my motivations and activities are. I sincerely hope by your peremptory question – quite a lot?

  4. Balint says:

Thats good to hear…not sure its an unrelated question though…me personally not much, but then again am not whining…in any case seems like what you do is not really effective…
