The European People’s Party’s group of the European Parliament nominated Hungarian MEP Pal Schmitt as one of its five candidates for vice president of the EP, at a session on Wednesday.
The new EP will vote on its 14 vice presidents on July 14.
Schmitt has been a member of the EP since 2004, delegated by Hungary’s main opposition Fidesz party.
