Fidesz tells PM to sack justice minister over video row

Hungary's main opposition Fidesz party on Monday demanded that the prime minister sack Justice Minister Tibor Draskovics, who, according to press reports, presented old video footage in the context of an ongoing criminal investigation of far-right activities.

Draskovics presented video footage depicting an explosion to the media last week . The footage was presented in the context of an ongoing official investigation into alleged preparations for terrorist attacks against the homes of politicians.

According to press reports, the video was connected to a completely different case which took place two years ago.

Fidesz MP Istvan Balsai told reporters on Monday that the DVD Draskovics had presented was a in fact recording of an experiment conducted by chemistry students and used as part of a media hoax two years ago.

"Draskovics has become a burden on the government," said Balsai.

Balsai earlier issued a statement in which he said that Draskovics had "falsified evidence" in an investigation of a radical nationalist organisation to create the illusion of an increasingly dangerous far-right.

In its reply the same day, the National Bureau of Investigations said that the footage Draskovics had presented was connected to the Hungarian Arrows organisation.

"The recording was found on the computer of a member [of the Arrows]. The connection between the terrorist organisation and performers of the explosion is obvious," the Bureau's statement said.

Nine people are currently in preliminary detention in connection with earlier attacks against the homes of politicians, including one in which gunshots were fired at the house of Culture Minister Istvan Hiller. The suspects include Gyorgy Budahazy, a notorious figure of Hungary's radical right.

oh, no. what a surprise this is.

Lies on top of lies!No surprise here.

"Draskovics has become a burden on the government," said Balsai.
Balsai: The MSZP government has become a burdenn on
us all. They are the sole perpetrators who have destroyed Hungary's chances of becoming a successful nation in the modern world.
Under MSZP governance Hungary and Hungarians have had to suffer every form of humility and have been dragged down over recent years to become an insignificant force in Europe, et al. With problems mounting by the day.
The horizon looks bleak because once the current bunch of dipsticks have been removed another set looks likely to take their place. Who? Fidesz, of course!
