Secret services minister to leave post for Socialist party campaign work

Adam Ficsor, minister without portfolio in charge of the civilian secret services, confirmed to MTI on Tuesday that he would leave his post in the autumn.

He said he would depart as of September 14 to take up duties in the Socialist party’s campaign for the 2010 elections.

Nepszabadsag daily reported on Monday that several Socialist ministers would depart from Gordon Bajnai’s government in the autumn in order to concentrate on the party’s campaign for the elections set for next spring.

The paper said that beside Ficsor, Csaba Molnar, head of the Prime Minister’s Office, was likely to join the party’s election machine, while Defence Minister Imre Szekeres, a party heavyweight, would head the campaign. Another member of the Bajnai cabinet, Social Policy Minister Peter Kiss, was also expected to leave his post, said the paper.
