Fidesz charges Socialists planning dirty election campaign

“The Socialist Party is preparing to launch the dirtiest campaign of all time,” Fidesz MP Ervin Demeter told reporters on Thursday. Demeter also accused outgoing Secret Services Minister Ádám Ficsor of collecting information to use in the election campaign during his five-month stint in the post.

Demeter opined that in recent years the cabinet “has clearly used the secret services for party policy goals, while the services have openly interfered in domestic politics”, and accused Democratic Forum chairwoman Ibolya Dávid of having “had access to certain telephone conversations”. He added that the Socialist Party has attempted to discredit its biggest political rival Fidesz on several occasions “with alleged and genuine information”.

Socialist Party spokesman István Nyakó said “Demeter’s slanders harm the country,” arguing that “there is no connection between Ficsor leaving his current post and taking up a new post in the Socialist Party”.

Ficsor said in an interview with Népszabadság on Tuesday that he is “interested in running as a prime ministerial candidate in 2030, but has a few things to do before then”.

Lendvai said the Socialists will name their prime ministerial candidate at the party convention, scheduled for November or December.

And this is news? News would be “Socialists prepare for honest,
fair, clean election with no fraud, lies or deceit, and are prepared to
respect the will of the people”. Won’t ever happen though -
Turkeys voting for Christmas would be more likely.

So, we will have a typical US Presidential Election.
No Hungarian Government after 1990 has been caught with election fraud in the sense of stuffing ballots etc.
Not even Fidesz has ever complained about that.
Keeping election promise and ‘telling the truth’ is another thing, but that is why politics is called politics.

I see Fidesz are using the old football tactic of getting thier ‘retalliation’ in first.

No Hungarian Government after 1990 has been caught – but it
happens. People are openly paid to vote for the MSZP – and don’t
say it doesn’t happen – I’ve seen it. In fact, the people out here are
looking forward to the election as it means a bit of extra cash. They
don’t care about the niceties of elections or whether it’s right or
wrong, like true Hungarians, they’ll do whatever you want and keep
quiet about it so long as you wave a bundle of notes under their
    noses.
The depressing thing is that it happens, but no-one gives a damn
as it’s just “politics”. If that’s the attitude you take you get the
politics you deserve – the politics of hate, envy, greed, arrogance
    and deceit.

If you really saw it, you are a material witness and should report it to the Police.
Otherwise it is part of the normal accusations:
    - Fidesz claims MSZP pays for votes,
    - MSZP claims that Fidesz pays for votes.

The we have the definition of what is ‘paying for votes’. As I understand picking up voters, driving them to the Voting Station and them inviting them to check the results from the elections, with some palinka and food equates to ‘paying for votes’.
In other countries this is part of honouring your Senior electorate. Of course each and every voter must be able to vote what they want for, but Hungary seem to have extremely strict rules for this, compared to Western Europe.

Hi there people, all human situations have their ups and downs. We feel those of the present but never see or feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and often for the worse. MERRY CHRISTMAS XXX
