Hungary’s minority ruling Socialist party expects to be able to name a prime ministerial candidate at a congress to be held either at the end of November or the start of December, the party’s leader Ildiko Lendvai said in a statement on Tuesday.
The party at the same time will adopt its programme, which will be the culmination of a political and social consultation process, she said.
The Socialist party will continue to undertake its traditional mission of representing the interests of workers, job-seekers and pensioners, Lendvai said in the statement.
The Socialist leader said that the country was not interested in holding early elections absent of any kind of campaign programme. She said in was in the public’s interest to become acquainted with the parties’ respective platforms which take into account the economic crisis and visions for its aftermath.
They will consult how to “culminate” the next highway robbery before trying to flee with the leftover stolen loot. After that there’ll be “economic crisis” for their ilk at best.
