Kóka continues to ignore calls from SZDSZ to quit caucus leadership

The Free Democrat leadership’s resignation deadline for caucus leader János Kóka expired at midnight, party chairman Attila Retkes told Inforádió on Tuesday.

Retkes said the liberal party’s executive body will meet later in the week to discuss possible sanctions. “The party has gone to the democratic limit on this issue and it is now up to Kóka’s political conscience,” he added.

Retkes stressed that he is “sure that the status of the party and the caucus will somehow have been settled by the start of the autumn session of Parliament”.

Retkes has virtually no legal avenue to remove Kóka, but hopes that he can exert influence on the other caucus members, HírTV observed on Tuesday.
