Budapest’s ongoing Sziget Festival will contribute to efforts to fight racism, the ambassador of Great Britain to Hungary and the chargé d’affaires of the US embassy told MTI in front of the tents of the two embassies at the festival site on Wednesday.
The festival could be a good counter-example to reports saying that Hungary experiences growing racism, since not only the visitors but the performers themselves come from very different ethnic groups, British Ambassador Greg Dorey said. The festival will promote the dialogue between cultures, he said, and referred to the mega-concert dubbed as Music Against Racism on day 0 of the festival, supported by the two embassies.
US charge d’affaires Jeffrey D. Levine, who visited the annual festival for the third time, said that the message of the festival was one of equality between people.
This is agreat article, but 100% Incorrect and deliberalty misleading.
My wife atteneded the festival yesterday and was amazed here Hungarians talking openly about ‘Niggers’ and laughing about how many Roma they could ‘Beat Up’ in a day???
When my wife commented that the word ‘Nigger’ is very offensive, she was told by the group that it was NOT!
This led to a conversation about ‘Big Hungary’ & Trianon……….
Very progressive indeed..
I was stopped by Hungarian Police after dropping her off and given the treatement for 30 minutes about ‘Where are your Papers ‘…
The Police were all smoking cigarettes and some were drinking alcohol???
What a crok a shit…
Hungary is without doubt one of the most openly Racist Country in Europe and these people being in their late 20′s early 30′s doesn’t bode well for the future of this already marginalized Country.
and to add to your comment:
isreali tourist posters being smeared with anti
semitic remarks and jewish/isreali performers
verbally attacked…
the youngsters (16-25y) who according to poll form
the majority of jobbik supporters are showing
hungarian understanding of liberty,freedom and
open mindness.(even though still a minority i would
like to add…)
lets see when it becomes physical abuse..
@Forget About It,
Forget about you my friend.
Have you had to endure the humiliation this once proud nation suffered in the hands of your “western” crooks, you’d be out of the picture now.
Go back to wherever you spew your stupid, inconsiderate garbage from and enjoy a jewish sziget festival garnished by the US and UK ambassadors’ odours there you crapshoot.
Why do you think these assholes visit such an openly anti-magyar event? Out of protocol maybe?
Tell you what. Forget about you and your ilk but not until you are brought to justice and put in prison for what you had done to Hungary.
Take your multiculturalist globalist idealogy and stuff it!! PWNT biatch…..
Gandi, before you go around talking about “owning” people, learn to spell Gandhi’s name correctly first.
My name is Gandi, get it right, not Gandhi…
Hey Candi,
if you are so much against “multiculturalist globalist idealogy”, what are you doing on this site writing in english to a bunch of foreigners?
A real multicultural festival is
“Peninsula”-Tusványosnak

How nice it is to enjoy the sun, listen to music,
exchange cultural ideas and condemn those nasty Hungarian folk.
Every weasel, doghound, and jackrabbit, has crawled out of the woodwork to climb on the bandwagon in slagging off Hungarians as “racist”.
It is easy for these one brain cell morons to
chant the populist rhetoric of Marxist students.
The police, the judiciary, and the government, needto first find out who is responsible for the
recent killings in eastern Hungary. Then we can all have our say on the topic in the knowledge
that we are able to present some sort of evidence
for our claims?
The race issues aside. Hungary is in deep trouble. And no-one really cares. Can you blame them?!
What big troubles ? What’s so special about Hungary
and its problems as opposed to other countries ?
You are making the troubles by pushing your country
toward fascism..then you will see what ‘trouble’
means
FerencMakrai,
I don’t believe the majority of Hungarians are racists, but if you were to make the argument that they were, you’d need to look no further than the comments written by “Hungary’s defenders” in this site’s comments sections. They do more to harm Hungary’s good name than anyone else here.
@Someone else,
You missed the addressee. They are doing more harm to you, than you do to Hungary’s reputation. Tough luck there buddyboy. Next time try harder.
By the way…who came up with this totally lame nick..someone else? You?
Polish up on your imagination next time, ’cause it doens’t wash or flush.
@beju
Your words only serve to confirm what I’ve written…
The problem is that you don’t understad why??
You are like far to many Hungarians and are just pushing Hungary futher away from the rest of the EU…
Who by the way actually OWN Hungary now?
Georg. Stoica. Hungary is special to Hungarians.
Hungary has problems. Read the newspapers. Look at the number of people struggling to repay loans,
hold on to jobs, soaring energy prices, the decimation of the provinces – and Jobbik want more territory???
We have a commie regime in charge at the moment. It is hard to imagine anyone making a worse job governing this country than them.
What fascists matey??? You are obviously an MSZP propogandist exemplified by your derogatory and sarcastic comments which allude to nothing in particular, really.
Are you a Transylvanian tooth hound, gheorghe stoika?!
What I find trully galling that Hungary & Hungarians cannot see & therefore refuse to accept that the many problems facing Hungary today are 100% dow to their own lack of knowledge & abilities in every field of daily life.
Hungary makes/made all its own choices/decisions and without fail gets it wrong every time…
Please don’t try and argue this point because Hungary is currently existing on handouts from other kind Countries that can’t stand to see a once proud nation dissapear from existance.
Hungary is so far adrift from reality on every level that it will be a least 3-4 more generations before people don’t have to pay all their bills at the Post Office…
Forget About Blabla,
And why do you think your argument holds water? This country was crucified by the “victorious powers” after WW1, brainwashed by communist lackeys, robbed by ex Kisz-secretaries without impunity. Obviously these minor incidents never entered into your inquisitory mind before drawing conclusions and making an ass out of yourself.
Correction above “with impunity”. For the record.
@beju
More rubbish on your part once again.
Please get your facts right just for once..
Trianon was Hungary’s penalty for choosing the wrong side and you will find that almost everyone outside Hungary believes Hungay got off pretty lightly. They though that back then and they still think so today.
Not content Hungary made the same Lazy, ill-considered choice for WW2???
I expect you will blame somebody else for those choices beju… because Hungary ‘NEVE@ gets it wrong eh….
Grow up for goodness sake. Nobody cares about Trianon any longer.
I bet if all the people living outside Hungary were Gypsies.. I bet you and your like wouldn’y be shouting for THEM to be accepted back with open arms would you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
> if all the people living outside Hungary were
Gypsies..
some 10% of the oficially (by their own
declaration during the census) ‘ethnic hungarian’
in Transylvania are in fact Gypsies and they
speak hungarian quite well.
It could be seen during the 2002 census in
Kolozsvar. The Mayor of the city suspected that
and he went to them personally and persuaded them
to declare truly (he promised more money, welfare,
health-care etc). They did and the result was that
the “hungarian” population of Kolozsvar dropped
from 23% to 19% and Gypsies population of the city
was no longer the “0%”.
They avoid declaring themselves as Gypsies because
afterwards their ethnincity appears in official
papers and they are discriminated. Their life in
Romania is not better (perhaps worse) than in
Hungary.
My point was: that Hungarians would not be intersted in re-patriating any Gypsies into Hungary because they operate the most disgusting ‘double standards’ when it comes to deciding who can be classed as ‘Hungarian’..
Also I easiy believe everything about Romania to be ‘worse’ than in Hungary.. which is very sad indeed I think
A mixed bag of problems indeed. Hungary is weak at the moment because of five years of dreadful government courtesy of the MSZP.
Hungary has tradition and culture and should not
lose its identity because of EU bureaucracy, political correctness, and the never-ending influx
of Roma-types whose only claim to being Hungarian
is that they can speak the language.
So can I. But I am not an Hungarian citizen.
Thousands of Hungarians live and work in my country
and they are welcome.
It is only the spirit and the will of native
Hungarians that can save this country now from becoming the “dumping” ground for nomadic strays
and German waste products.
