Socialist MP calls state president “peasant” after snub of new house speaker

Socialist MP Tibor Szanyi called President László Sólyom a “peasant” on his online blog, Magyar Hírlap reports.

Writing on kapcsolat.hu, Szanyi said Sólyom had gone to Parliament on Monday to witness the election of a new Speaker, heard the applause through, watched others congratulate Béla Katona then turned around and left without a word. “So this peasant is harmful not only to ethnic Hungarians abroad,” he wrote.

In other remarks, Szanyi called Fidesz a disgraceful horde obsessed with gaining power.

Better to be called a peasant than a commie like this scum socialist Szányi reveals himself to be.

    This is silly of him.
Look at our history. Unless you are descended from the small aristocratic class, most Hungarians are but one to three generations removed from such a class name.

Wow. You combine poignancy with poetry! Your post is better recited aloud than read. I think that’s a first for this forum.
