Hungarian MEP gets top post at EU-US policy network

Hungarian MEP Edit Herczog has been elected chairperson of the European group of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN), a non-governmental organisation promoting US-EU cooperation.

Herczog (Socialist) told MTI on Monday that her focus would be on cooperation in the energy industries, research and development, as well as promoting a single transatlantic market.

“The single transatlantic market is a long-term goal. To attain it, we should make the initial steps as soon as possible,” she said.

Launched in 1992, TPN has been promoting the closest possible partnership between the governments and peoples of the European Union and the United States.
