While he apparently remains steadfast in his refusal to resign as head of Hungary’s official National Gypsy Authority due to the various criminal charges he faces, Orbán Kolompár has nevertheless decided to step back a bit from the organization, allegedly so he can focus on preparing for next year’s general elections. This happened about two weeks ago. But one detail in this report of his decision has kept me wondering, namely Kolompár’s explanation that he was handing off “80%” of his duties to four associates.
Assuming that each of these four understudies will be working full-time, all of this may help explain why Kolompár thinks he’s irreplaceable. It also may explain the photoshop gag to the left, which I found here. What it doesn’t explain is whether he thinks he can give 100% during the 80% of the time he is supposed to be spending on campaign duties, now that he’ll be busy for a certain percentage each week dealing with his legal woes, or whether his organization will be 80% less corrupt under the new staffing arrangement.
