Fidesz to lead demonstration against cuts to local council budget

Debrecen’s Fidesz mayor Lajos Kósa will lead a protest against the draft budget outside Parliament at 11 a.m. on October 10.

Kósa has asked local government leaders, council members and employees to protest against “the most dangerous budget of the past 20 years. If this bill is voted into law, it could floor local authorities,” he added.

Battonya’s mayor and Socialist MP József Karsai will join the demonstration organised by Kósa. He told Magyar Hírlap “it is unacceptable that the Bajnai cabinet wants to implement drastic austerity measures in villages, as they punish their residents.”

I suppose Messrs.Kósa and Karsai will at another time tell Magyar Hirlap where they find extra funding.
Protest is a valuable democratic tool but many political leaders use prorest to score cheap points….”100% of govt policy is wrong although I offer no credible alternative.”
Hungary is becoming the land of the demagogue.
