Hungarian hospital leaders, who recently mounted protests against government cutbacks, have unexpectedly done a deal with the government to call off their action in exchange for limited top-up funds, Nepszabadsag daily said on Wednesday.
Negotiations suddenly ended with an agreement late on Tuesday, after a week of protest from hospital leaders who had threatened strikes.
After talks with the health minister broke down last week, Finance Minister Peter Oszko took up negotiations. Whereas the health care sector will only get extra financing of 4.5 billion forints this year — hospitals had demanded 25.5 billion forints (EUR 94.4m)– Oszko finally sealed an agreement with a top-up of 38 billion forints next year.
Hospitals have said they will postpone non-emergency treatment this year, but service provision will not be affected otherwise, since hospitals will find it easier to get credit from suppliers in the knowledge that next year’s financing will be more generous, the paper said.

we can safe millions of euros on the non western immigrants the EU wants us to take in and spend it on the healthcare system for our own people.
Ask the government how much it cost and you don’t believe your ears.
@Geza – how much? I’m asking you?
