“I consider holding accountable those responsible for Hungary’s present position as more important than the country’s finances,” Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán told MTV talk show “Ma reggel” (This Morning) on Friday.
Antall-era Justice Minister István Balsai will oversee strategic planning and prepare the steps of lawful accountability that will follow a change of cabinet, Orbán said.
Speaking after his party’s three-year boycott of the recently scrapped “Nap-kelte” political talk show, Orbán told its replacement that he backs family taxation and reiterated that a Fidesz cabinet would revoke the draft budget, which he called “the worst submitted to Parliament in the past twenty years.”
Regarding the closure of the Sydney consulate-general, Orbán said he had spoken about it with President László Sólyom, and “if it is closed now, we shall have to re-open it”.
On Slovak-Hungarian relations, he said “one cannot just say that talks must be held, as counter measures should also be taken”.
Fidesz’s chief of staff body has been expanded with a new specialised area and section, Orbán revealed.
