The above flier appeared in my mailbox last week, and in English, it says “Do you agree that a monthly salary of Ft 742,560 is deserved in prison? The Socialists do!” No doubt meant to ride on the coattails of the uproar over the widespread corruption recently revealed at Budapest public transport provider BKV, these fliers are meant to remind people that District VII Mayor György Hunvald is still receiving his salary while he is under preliminary arrest over a wide range of corruption-related crimes. The interesting part, however, is that it makes no mention of who is behind the fliers, although it’s pretty safe to rule out the Socialists or Free Democrats.
