Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai will nominate member of the EBRD board Andor Laszlo as the Hungarian member of the European Commission, commercial radio station InfoRadio said on Wednesday without revealing its source.
Government spokeswoman Bernadett Budai declined to comment but said that Bajnai would publicly announce his nomination within a week.
Andor has been a member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development board, representing Hungary, since 2005. He is also a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ International Studies Committee and a lecturer at Budapest Corvinus University. He was a member of the economic policy advisor board to former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany from 2004.
