Fidesz to create security czar; tycoon ex-police chief tipped for job

Main opposition party Fidesz, if it were to win next year’s general elections, would give control over the police and national security to one minister, writes index.hu. The post of minister without portfolio would cease to exist, and both organizations would be overseen by the interior minister.

According to the portal, the party thinks former Interior Minister Sándor Pintér would be ideal for the job.

Pintér is a former Budapest police chief and billionaire businessman. Earlier this year, his name was already mentioned among possible ministers in a second Orbán government.
