European human rights commissioner visits Hungary

The Council of Europe's human rights commissioner visited Hungary on Tuesday and met Erno Kallai, Hungary's minority rights ombudsman and other senior officials to review the situation of the country's Roma.

Thomas Hammarberg is on a fact-finding mission to examining discrimination faced by Roma in several areas as well as the reasons for violent, and in several cases fatal, attacks against Roma communities. Kallai briefed him on Hungary's Roma integration programme.

Kallai told MTI after his meeting that Hammarberg was particularly concerned about hate speech in the country and the increasingly serious attacks against the minority.

" Kallai briefed him on Hungary's Roma integration programme."

When are they going to educate the white Hungarians? It seems enough talk has been discussed regarding integrating the Roma. All it is talk. Educating the majority on human rights would go a lot further in helping them..
