I’ve always suspected that former Finance Minister János Veres was an optimist. The man who was finance minister as the government tanked the economy always insisted that he would also be the one to rescue it. Needles to say, that didn’t quite pan out. Recently, however, Veres was one of the people nominated by the Socialists as a possible successor to László Kovács in the European Commission. The final decision rests with Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai, who isn’t exactly thrilled with Veres. As Bors wrote about him:
He was one of the most unpopular members of the former government, has only a basic grasp of English and German and as finance minister sent questionable numbers to the EU.
Perhaps in no small part due to these reasons, index.hu reports that Bajnai is favoring one László Andor, who not only speaks fluent English but works for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, while not carrying as much baggage as a royal delegation. Veres, however, keeps hoping that he’ll be Bajnai’s pick according to mno.hu. János, all I can say is: don’t stop believing…

Nice how eu support, encourages and collaborate with Kadar era
criminals, lovely! Or that’s what they mean when they bubbling
