Fidesz MP Ildikó Gáll Pelcz handed out Szerencsi Retro chocolate bars to her fellow MPs to demonstrate that Hungarian SMEs are disadvantaged in relation to multinational firms before regular House business on Monday. Pelcz opined that Hungary’s products rarely make it onto the shelves of major department stores.
Economy Ministry state secretary László Varjú responded that the SME sector has been assigned Ft 57 billion of the state’s Ft 61 billion subsidies to companies.
Free Democrat caucus leader János Kóka complained that Pelcz was “promoting chocolate and solar panels in Parliament”, a comment that received short shrift from Christian Democrat MP Béla Molnár.
Free Democrat Mátyás Eörsi nevertheless added that parliament is becoming a market outlet “where agents hawk their wares”.
