The famous scandals of recent years must be further investigated and an attempt must be made to call to account those responsible for damages, deputy leader of the main opposition Fidesz party Zoltan Pokorni told MTI on Saturday.
“Perhaps the results will be more modest than what the majority of people expect (…) but it is still important. Not only to recover the many wasted billions but because of our future,” Pokorni said. The new government will have to draw a distinct line between the past and the future, to show that “time is over for politics that allowed and tolerated party financing tricks and cronyism,” he added.
Pokorni said if Fidesz enters government, the first steps to be made will be to reintroduce the system of child care benefits, to cancel the property tax, to prepare a family-friendly taxation system, grant dual citizenship to Hungarian minorities in other countries and narrow the political elite.
Regarding his party’s chances at next year’s parliamentary elections, Pokorni said there was a mathematical possibility that Fidesz would get a two-thirds majority but this was not what Fidesz needed to deal with now.
“Perhaps the results will be more modest than what the majority of people expect (…) but it is still important. Not only to recover the many wasted billions but because of our future,” Pokorni said.

This is the interesting part:
“Perhaps the results will be more modest than what the majority of people expect”
A heads-up that there is no money to recover, that only the low-level players will be targeted?

A typical Fidesz statement that withdraws everything said before, or maybe more correct, to point to after the Elections, when questions are asked why the taxes must be raised to support the Fidesz-promises of:
“reintroduce the system of child care benefits, to cancel the property tax, to prepare a family-friendly taxation system, grant dual citizenship to Hungarian minorities in other countries”.

Or just to be the excuse of why not start with all these nice things, because no money could be recovered, so all promises have to be postponed for 5 years.
