Trial begins of alleged editor of far-right website

Balázs M., the alleged editor of radical right-wing website kuruc.info, went on trial on charges of abuse of personal data and libel at a Székesfehérvár court on Friday.

Following the riots in the fall of 2006 in Budapest, the website posted the addresses, mobile phone numbers and other information about four Budapest judges and a prosecutor.

Unidentified people then threatened and harassed these persons by phone and mail. The Budapest Prosecutor’s Office pressed charges against the editor of the website last December.

The accused refused to make a statement and his lawyer Szabolcs Balsay said his client denies having been editor of the website. The trial will resume in January.
