Free Democrat MPs rumored to appear on Socialist Party electoral list

A piece over at index.hu has raised the possibility that some Free Democrat MPs on good terms with the Socialists might run for parliament next year on the Socialist Party list. Among the names mentioned were János Kóka and Gábor Horn, who with the Free Democrats’ current popularity do not stand a chance of making it into parliament in the next cycle. “A need for liberal representatives in parliament” was ostensibly given as the reason for this solution, although the article did make it clear that given the dramatic drop in numbers the Socialists will see in the next parliament, this outcome is unlikely to happen. Still, it would complete the Free Dem’s transition from being the former communists’ fiercest enemies in 1989 to their closest friends twenty years later.
