Hungary's government makes every effort to secure order and expects the same from the police, Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai said on Saturday.
"What happened in Sajobabony last weekend truly demonstrated that incitement to hatred and provocation represent an increasing threat to public security," said Bajnai before a meeting of the Socialist Party's Left-wing Association Platform.
The north Hungarian town of Sajobabony witnessed a confrontation between Roma residents and supporters of the radical nationalist Jobbik party and its banned uniformed wing, the Hungarian Guard, last weekend.
Police must arrest those who want to take justice in their own hands, who provoke others and increase tension, the prime minister said.
"Those who try to run an organisation banned by the court and march in its uniform, those who refuse to obey police orders and repeatedly provoke others, and those who go against the constitution of the Republic of Hungary must expect apt retribution," he said.
In response, a main opposition Fidesz official called the prime minister himself the greatest threat to security. Staff leader Peter Szijjarto said that the government was unable to keep control of either the economy or public security.

This must have been very confuding for the Budapest Police.
As we know they are pretty low on intelligence at the best of times but......
They must have been in a really difficult situation here, because who were they expected to arrest or beat up........ Themselves?
