European Parliament president begins official visit to Hungary
European Parliament's President Jerzy Buzek will start a two-day visit to Hungary on Thursday at the invitation of House Speaker Bela Katona.
Buzek is scheduled to meet President Laszlo Solyom, Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai, Foreign Minister Peter Balazs and leaders of the parliamentary parties, among them main opposition Fidesz leader Viktor Orban.
Before his visit, Buzek said that as the first European Parliament president to have come from this region of Europe, he feels that he represents the countries which joined the EU in 2004 and 2007.
Buzek said the agenda of his talks in Hungary will include EU issues, including the Lisbon Treaty's upcoming entry into force, and the next trio presidency, which Hungary will share with Spain and Belgium.
"The upcoming period is of decisive importance for the European Union's future," he said.
On Thursday evening, Buzek will take part in a European Science Academy dinner, which will open the annual Global Round Table Conference.

The newly formed AENM (Alliance of European National Movements) has welcomed yet another party into its ranks, thus swelling further the grouping which represents the truly EU-sceptic and nationalist parties of Europe.
During a Press Conference held yesterday at the European Parliament in Brussels, the Chairman of the British National Party, Nick Griffin, confirmed his party's intention to join the pan-European alliance founded in Hungary last month. Other nationalist parties from Austria, Spain and Portugal are also set to join the AENM in the very near future.
The AENM was formed on the 24th October 2009 in Budapest, at the 6th Jobbik party congress. Its founder members being Jobbik, The Movement for a Better Hungary (Hungary), the Front National (France), Fiamma Tricolore (Italy), the National Democrats (Sweden) and the National Front (Belgium).

Buzek's agenda is highly interesting: The Lisbon Treaty and the next trio presidency which will include Hungary. Fucking marvelous!
