Hungary’s parliament on Monday passed the government’s bill to set up a national anti-corruption office.
The bill was supported by 179 deputies, while 163 voted against and four abstained.
The new office, focusing primarily on public procurement and public interest in general, will be an autonomous body within state administration.
The anti-corruption package contains amendments seeking to increase the transparency of political campaigns, ensure tracking the disbursement of public funds and promote public trust in state administration.
