Hungary's national Roma self-government (OCO) received an envelope containing white powder and a threatening message at its central office on Wednesday, an OCO official told MTI.
Police are investigating the content of the envelope, which included the text "You can leave!", the official said.
Police spokesman Endre Kormos told MTI that criminal proceedings have been launched.
OCO president Orban Kolompar called the threat an "act of political terrorism" aimed at "intimidating all the Roma" in Hungary. He said that the current threat had been one of those he had been receiving in a row over the past year and a half for OCO's consistent political statements rejecting manifestations of radicalism targeting Roma communities.
Published every Wednesday, the Politics Hungary newsletter contains all the previous week's headlines from Politics.hu, as well as related stories from other All Hungary sites.
A better explanation is that some of the gypsies Kolompar stole millions from are fed up with him and want him to leave.
Why is this thief not in jail?
@ Mark
This is probably going to be another piece of evidence for you about my being Anti-Hungarian but I will take my chances.
I never heard of Kolompar - he is either guilty of your charges or he is not (I now know first hand that you manage to accuse people of various wrongdoings without a shred of evidence)
For the sake of argument, let's assume he stole millions.
Instead of sending anonymous threatening messages and white powder, how about collecting the paper trail, charging him and convicting him in a court of law? Novel idea? Un-Hungarian?
Mark will always be quick to find any excuse for attacks on any minorities in Hungary.
In the world of Mark's kind, Hungarian Roma have not been the target of random killings, it was just Roma-on-Roma violence.
No wonder that immediately he tries to make this into another Roma-on-Roma thing.
@Olga
You know close to nothing about the things going on in Hungary and still say something, anything to prove your loyalty to those whose terrorist rule your parents escaped from. What do you do in your spare tome? Spit on and burn the Hungarian flag while thinking about your next post to stick it you those imaginary Nazis of your confused mind?
Here is what other Gypsy leaders had to say about Kolompar. I realize that politics.hu may not be the most reliable and complete news source about Hungarian events but you should at least read politics.hu before you post another ignorant comment:

@Mark:
You know close to nothing about the things going on in Hungary and still say something, anything to prove your loyalty to WHOM, maybe the Redneck Nazis that you seem to belong to ?

Well it seems he really knows nothing about today's Hungary ...
Although "copy&paste" must be his specialty ...
The Police pressed charges in Middle July 2009.
So far has nothing happened and no one has been convicted yet, except by Mark and his kind.
Probably the Police is correct, but where is Mark's proof that this white powder is a Roma-on-Roma attack?
Just wishful thinking.
Probably more non-Roma Hungarians hates Kolompar more than any Roma.
