Hungary’s main opposition Fidesz plans to run a short and cheap campaign, the party’s campaign chief Gabor Kubatov told MTI on Monday.
Fidesz, which is widely expected to win a landslide in the April election, wants a short, cheap and intensive campaign lasting about a month, Kubatov said.
“Fidesz is in an extraordinary situation,” Kubatov said. “For the first time in Hungarian politics, it has a chance to win in all 176 individual constituencies.”
Hungary operates a complex voting system held in two rounds. Voters can select deputies for individual constituencies, from a party list and from a regional list.
Kubatov said the Fidesz campaign would focus on corruption, pointing out to voters what he called “the government’s inadequacy and mismanagement.”
So if we put together this article and the one before on the MSZP-campaign we can then see the following:
- MSZP will talk about the future.
- Fidesz will talk about what happened.
Fidesz’ looking backwards works probably rather good as raising the temperature on their election-meetings among the already faithful, but do people not want to know *what* Fidesz should do with all this power every one expect them to get?
People will not get know what Fidesz will do with all this power because they will not tell us. and why? because we don’t ask the tough questions. Keep in mind that Fidesz message tries to appeal as broad as possible in order to reach the magic 2/3 threshold. And besides, we hungarians never vote for a party, we vote against one.
I would settle for Fidesz 50%, Jobbik 50% for now.
we hungarians never vote for a party, we vote against one.

Yes, that is probably a very good observation, for all elections since 1990, excluding the last General Election (April 2006). The Local Election in October 2006 was definitely that.
The 2006 General Election was Gyurcsany’s re-election and it may have been the first not ‘against’ election, then it was the 1st time any Government survived post-1990.
The question is why it survived?
People trusted Gyurcsany (and that is why the disappointment was so much bigger)?
Or people did not trust Orban enough?
MSZP should be banned not only for all the Communists in their ranks but for all the damage, they have done to the country. Any plans and programs MSZP conjures up should get as much credibility as serial torture killers talking about the sanctity of life. They are done. Time for some prison time for these thieves…
MSZP should be banned

Of course, that was a helpful comment from a Yankee.
And then all Hungarians can vote for the Munkaspart, right?
Why have elections at all?
Why do you have 2 parties in the US?
And more TV-channels than Fox News?
-
One comment from an Hungarian who moved 15 years ago to the US and visits the Old Country one time per year. A couple of years ago, when the Iraq-war just started, she got so tired to have to defend the US position, that she made the best comment I have heard for many years:
-
“You in Europe do not know the truth because you do not have Fox News!”
-
End of discussion.
Against such arguments there is no defence left, then we were all on the floor laughing.
Viking@WTF Fox news ?? You know nothing about reality and you know even less about Mark
you know even less about Mark

We all know what he writes about himself.
A NRA-member and proud US citizen.
What else should he watch except Fox News, or is that to much Communist-propaganda?
HirTV and DunaTV is possible to watch in the US also, plus all the Hungarian papers.
So, what are we to believe?
Or he his not real?
@ Viking
Thanks for the answer re Budahazy trial and MSZP comment. – can’t find the thread but after your explanation I understood your comment.
About FOX news – I saw in the news that Sarah Palin joined as a commentator. It was predictable.
Hi Ricsi,
Let the bozo enjoy his fantasies. I realize that at times there is an urge to show them for the idiots they are but it is a lot more fun to watch them make bigger and bigger fools of themselves
Szebb jövőt my friend

Mark is claiming to be both NRA card carrying member and proud US citizen.
Why should we not believe that?
He is just making it up as he goes?
A ‘Man of his Words’ or just one of Ricsi’s products?
Hey Bozo, You are free t let your fantasies ran wild and imagine whatever you want. You can imagine and say that I am Ricsi, Law, or an NRA member. You can make as big a fool of yourself as you wish. Neither I nor anyone else is obligated to provide your ilk with any personal information or to correct or affirm your fantasies or keep you from making a fool of yourself.
You can imagine and say that I am Ricsi, Law, or an NRA member

You are the one who started to speak about NRA and how nice it was in the US.
I just repeat the info you have made available here.
If that info is not correct, so?
The info I have made available here is that I am a Swede and live in Budapest since 1993. You have chosen not to believe me, that is your problem.
If you are a separate person from Ricsi or just his creation, is something that has been questioned sometimes. We can all just see that the two of you according to your own admittance know each other, but live in different countries.
Why should 2 persons that know each other end up on the same political discussion-site not co-ordinate their posting, especially as they always support each other?
Conclusion:
===========
So Mark and Ricsi are here to make propaganda for Jobbik, because they do.
-
Do our Hungarian Tax money pay their salaries?
We all know that Jobbik gets money from the Hungarian State and is it not nice how Jobbik can accept money from the same ‘Communists’ they hate so much and think they are all Jews?
As the old saying goes – Money Does Not Smell!
Do not stop banging your head against the wall on my account.
@Mark: Been meaning to ask you this – how come
barikad doesn’t have open comments on its site? What
are you people afraid of?
@Erik
I do not know for sure but I can guess. I assume that it would serve no purpose. Some of these sites close to Jobbik, such as Barikad need to make sure that provocateurs do not create problems for Jobbik
I read somewhere that they tried to close down a party in England, based on an “insider” report claiming that they were advocating violence and such. It turned out later that the two guys advocating violence and such were agents who infiltrated the organization to bust it up. I would be grateful if someone who has the link would help me with it.
I would also like to ask a question. Why did you start this site?
@Mark: Started the site because it just seemed like
there was space for a non-partisan page devoted to
Hungarian politics, in English. (Previously
political stories had ended up on Caboodle.hu or, if
they were funny/weired, on Pestiside.hu). So if you
think it is okay for barikad, etc, not to allow open
discussion, why should we? Why not just ban all
provocative comments, starting with yours?
@Erik
It is your dime and you may run your site as you wish. However, without people who feel strong about Hungary’s Hungarian identity, this site would become just as dull and uninteresting as Balogh’s Hungarian Spectrum. People can go there and read about all those nasty Hungarian Nazis but not one bad word about Communists, especially Jewish Communists. People with opinions not in conformance with Eva are quickly booted off the site. I looked there one time and that was enough of her nicely packaged anti-Hungarian garbage.
It is interesting that you would consider my comments provocative. Paraphrasing President Truman, I am not provocative. I tell the truth and to some people that is provocative.
Yes, provocative is not the right word to describe Mark’s comments – bullshit would be more adequate or maybe loonie, especially when he is together with our resident “Trianon expert” Law on ” jewish commie mossad provocateur agents” …
@Mark: But really, why are the/you people at sites
like barikad such, well, sissies about this? I mean,
if you can’t handle a few negative comments on your
website, why should anyone assume you can deal with
any of Hungary’s many problems? Seriously, I think
it’s high time for you boys to butch up a bit.
@Erik
Maybe I did not explain it clear enough. Barikad is like a newspaper, presenting news and ideas from the pro-Hungarian point of view. Magyar Hirlap, the pro-Fidesz newspaper’s electronic version allows comments. I wish they would not. The amount of filth there from the “wolfie” types is enough to turn one’s stomach.
I have to compliment you for your site being clean and free of obscene and disgusting attacks. It could be just lucky or something you do. I do not know. Other lists, especially Google lists are nothing but filth. The filth or most of it is not coming from those who believe as I do but from those who are afraid of the truth. Actually, this is the only site I know where people with this much hostility for each other manage to keep it clean.
Maybe I should put you up for a medal or something. My only complaint and it is a major one is how the posters IP’s become known to other posters.
Another thing; why do you people keep asking me why Barikad does this or that or what Jobbik wants or does not want to do? Did I ever claim to speak for them?
@Mark: Because you link to barikad’s URL from your
name. I assume you’d draw a similar conclusion if
someone else did the same and pointed it at
nacivadasz or whatever.
Is this better? The Magyar Garda is #1 for me, still not a spokesperson.
