Poll shows over 40% of voters support Fidesz

Over 40% of voters support Fidesz taking the reins of power after the elections, while 17% back the Socialists, a Forsense poll conducted from December 8-17 suggests.

Regarding other parties, 12% favour Jobbik, 10% the Democratic Forum, 7% the Free Democrats and 2% Politics Can Be Different.

Of Fidesz voters, two-thirds would not want it to enter into a coalition with another party, while the majority of Socialist voters would consider an alliance, and 15% would consider Fidesz as a partner in government.

Most Jobbik voters favour a joint Fidesz-Jobbik cabinet, but 12% of them say the far-right party ought to form a cabinet on its own.

Meanwhile a Tárki poll released on Thursday said 71% of the population would issue residency permits to ethnic Hungarians who are in employment and do not have criminal records, while only 15-19% would do likewise with Arab, Israeli, African, Ukrainian, Serb, Chinese and Roma people in the same circumstances. Both polls questioned 1,000 people.

“71% of the population would issue residency permits to ethnic Hungarians”
And the figure for ethnic Anglo-saxons?

@Sophist: “And the figure for ethnic Anglo-saxons?” Sling your hook, mate.

How many magyars working in the UK, Germany, et al
at the moment. Likewise for the Polish brothers?
Reality check time for those who wish to deceive themselves that la-la land is anything but a “sunken ship” that needs to be continually rescued by the EU/IMF World Bank etc.
Hungary is a hotbed of corruption. Politicians are inefficient and corrupt. Most workers are underpaid
and corrupt bosses make off with the takings -
    BKV to name but one.
Residency permits to ethnic Hungarians. What a fucking joke!

    and Vikings?
The funny thing is how do you get a residency permit without a work permit.
How do you get an employment without a work permit?

As citizens of EU member states we do not need to apply for Residence Permits, but we need to show that we can support ourselves (when asked). This is to avoid ‘Economical Refugees’ inside the EU.
The Tárki poll seems to concentrate on ‘Out-off EU’-type of people.
Serbia is joining the EU soon, so they will not be counted any more.
To my knowledge Roma do not have their own state, they are normally citizens of the countries they happen to live in, so a Roma from Romania has the same right as a Viking from Sweden to live in Hungary.

    @Viking:
Yes, that’s another of the real advantages (some jobos here might say dis-advantages) of the EU.
Hungary is my “second home”, I got a card to prove it, I get (almost ?) the same privileges as the locals (less tax, cheaper entry to the Spa) …
On the other hand (I wrote it already on some thread here) I spent at least 40 million HUF in the last 12 years, on buying and rebuilding my house and living and consuming …
Of course, since I don’t speak Hungarian I’m only a “West European riff raff” … – well I don’t mind, I feel like a European citizen of the 21st century …

7% back SzDSz? So the day after they announce that they’ve accepted that it’s pointless to stand in the election, we see the first poll in years that puts them above the 5% threshold!
    Dear oh dear oh dear…

  7. Viking says:

    10% the Democratic Forum,
    7% the Free Democrats and
    2% Politics Can Be Different.
    And only 40% on Fidesz.
This one goes a bit from the earlier ones.

Here we would then, clearly making assumptions that the voters may not do, but fiddling a bit:
14% for MDF (4% from the abandon SZDSZ)
5% for ‘Politics Can Be Different’ (3% from the abandon SZDSZ)
My surprise is still that the ‘Politics Can Be Different’ gets so low figures. They should be thriving in the current situation, but we will see if they start to rise a bit later.

There is a very important piece of information missing here from this summary. This was not a simple poll of party preference. It was a poll of which parties the public could see forming or playing a part in a coalition government. Without this emphasis the statistics are pretty much meaningless!
