Hungarian PM to visit Zagreb on Monday

Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai will leave for Zagreb on Monday for talks with his Croatian counterpart Jadranka Kosor, the government spokesman told MTI.

The talks will focus on secure energy supply and EU enlargement, including Croatia’s accession, Domokos Szollar said on Saturday.

Enhancing energy security and reducing energy dependence in Central Europe are fundamental strategic interests for both Hungary and Croatia, he said.

Bajnai and Kosor will discuss plans to build a gas pipeline between the two countries that would be a key section of the gas corridor between the Baltic and the Adriatic.

The LPG terminal to be built on the Adriatic isle of Krk will also be a strategic project, providing Hungary with new access to energy resources, he said.

The spokesman reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to promoting Croatia’s soonest possible accession to the European Union.
