Raiders to TV headquarters in 2006 sentenced

One person was sentenced to imprisonment, seven others were given suspended prison terms for their part in violent protests in 2006, in which rioters occupied the headquarters of Hungarian Television, a Budapest court said on Friday.

On the night of September 18-19, 2006, a group of protesters demanding the resignation of then Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany stormed MTV headquarters, and set fire to the building. Altogether 191 policemen defending the building were injured, 21 of them seriously.

Previously, about one dozen people got suspended prison terms for their involvement in the siege.
