Democratic Forum hopeful of 8% election result

Democratic Forum campaign chief Zoltán Somogyi said Tuesday he would not be surprised if the party won more than 8% of the votes in the parliamentary elections.

The party will formally launch its election campaign on February 1, with billboard ads appearing on February 15. The campaign will be built around prime ministerial candidate Lajos Bokros.

As for a possible alliance with the Free Democrats, Somogyi said an agreement could be reached in the near future.
The Forum expects campaign funds from the Free Democrats in return for two or three places on its list, according to Magyar Hírlap.

An internal survey shows that neither Free Democrat nor the Forum supporters like the marriage of the two parties and most consider it “political prostitution” the newspaper adds.
