Former Socialist politician János Zuschlag was fined Ft 15 million (over €55,000) by the Hungarian tax authority APEH for failing to pay taxes, index.hu revealed, based on an MTI report. Zuschlag denies the allegations.
During the course of an assets check, APEH discovered that Zuschlag missed paying a total of Ft 30.5 million in taxes over the period between 2001 and 2005, and consequently issued an additional fine. Zuschlag responded that he had paid taxes on all of his income, and he could not participate in the assets check procedure, because he is currently under arrest.
Zuschlag will be given an opportunity later this month to make a longer statement.
