All MPs hand in assets statements on time

All of Hungary’s MPs handed in their assets statement by the 8 p.m. deadline on Monday.

Socialist Party chairwoman Ildikó Lendvai has a 104m² flat in downtown Budapest and savings of $1,600. She earns a monthly salary of nearly Ft 400,000 as an MP and Ft 280,000 as party chairwoman.

Socialist Party caucus leader Attila Mesterházy owns a 15m² plot in Balatonalmádi, a flat in the Third District and two garages in Veszprém, as well as meadows and woods.

Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán earns Ft 400,000 as an MP and Ft 402,000 as party leader. Orbán and his wife jointly own a 182m² house in the 12th District and have paid off a Ft 20 million mortgage since 2002.

Democratic Forum chairwoman Ibolya Dávid has ownership of two flats in Buda, usufruct of a flat in the Third District and two-thirds ownership of a holiday home. She is not paid for her work as a party leader.

Free Democrat caucus leader János Kóka has a 662m² house in the 12th District, a holiday home in Ver ce and a A8 Audi car.

National Bank (MNB) governor András Simor’s assets rose by Ft 45 million and totalled Ft 1.448 billion after he sold his companies last year. MNB vice president Júlia Király’s assets exceed Ft 401 million.

Budapest mayor Gábor Demszky co-owns a 171m² house, a 57m² flat and a quarter of a 142m² house in Budakeszi, as well as a 130m² holiday home with a garden in Croatia.
