LMP reaches out to Austria over environmenal tensions

Hungary’s green party LMP has initiated cross-border cooperation with Austria in order to resolve environmental problems along the two country’s borders, MP and local coordinator of LMP Ildiko Gergacz said on Thursday.

Christiane Brunner, an MP of Austria’s Die Gruenen party said that protest against a waste incinerator planned to be built in the industrial park of Heiligenkreuz in Austria and the pollution of the River Raba which flows across the border have caused serious conflicts between Austria and Hungary.

The two countries maintain good neighbourly relations and the tension was not caused by the people but by political forces, Brunner said. This is why the representation and influence of green parties need to be strengthened in both countries’ parliaments, she added.

To our recent LMP corresondent–is it true that one of your Pécsi candidates (Kozármislény?)is actually a lady called Bokos Sára, who apparently was ‘dismissed’over allegations of misappropiating funds from the Reformatus Gimnazium ? Ah Yes, Politics with a difference indeed. :)
