MDF leader warns of two-thirds "Fidesz-Jobbik" majority

The upcoming elections will determine whether the government will be replaced, for which there is a need, and whether a two-thirds "Fidesz-Jobbik" majority will be prevented, Democratic Forum leader Ibolya Dávid declared in Miskolc on Thursday.

Presenting the party's local candidates. Dávid said the Forum is the only party which emphasises work and dignity in its platform.

Meanwhile, Forum spokesman Szabolcs Kerék-Bárczy invited his counterparts from other parties to a debate on their visions for Hungary's future.

"MDF leader warns..." of a scenario an increasing number of the electorate actually want.

David with her finger on the political pulse once again.

@Bobs..: True, but as most of the left and center are feeling embattled (with good reason) only around 60% of their supporters are inclined to even bother to vote, whereas 75% of Jobbik supporters will. In this light it's worth encouraging people to pick up their derrières and kindly take it to where it can do something useful - though we clearly disagree on what constitutes good use in this context.

Of course, she is just echoing what I have been writing here for weeks
I am "the political pulse" of Hungary, you missed that also?

To claim that Fidesz supporters/voters want that Fidesz will rely on Jobbik-support to secure new legislation is not really proven, is it?
Only a minority of Fidesz supporters/voters would like their party rely on any other party and they would prefer Fidesz to have its own 2/3rd majority, which probably only a 4-party Parliament can prevent
That is why MDF is needed in the next Parliament, to create an alternative for Fidesz on who to work with to secure new legislation, so Fidesz do not have to rely on Jobbik only
In the end of the day it will be up to Fidesz to handle the 2/3rd majority situation, but MDF in the next Parliament will be an important factor for that reason

@Vandorlo
Personally, I have always favoured the Australian system, where voting is compulsory with fines for those who do not. Anybody who cares for none of the candidates can then always spoil their ballot paper on the day.

The rather tortuous version of d'Hondt we use can't help much either. But maybe I'm just being an optimist, but I can't see how any Jobbik/Fidesz government can possibly do as much damage as an SZDSZ/MSZP one.

Instead of the MDF warning, how about preparing for it :)

"Jobbik/Fidesz government"?
But Gábor Zázrivecz (aka Vona) has already *promised* that Jobbik will not join the Government, so that would be a lie then?

Ibolya Dávid will do anything to stay out of prison.
