Viktor Orban, tipped to head the next government after the April elections, said Hungary had a good chance of ridding itself of a divisive political duopoly over the next 15-20 years.
This period will be dominated by “one central political force,” the Fidesz leader said in an article to be published on Wednesday.
“The constant clashing of values, which breeds divisive, petty, superfluous social consequences will soon be replaced by a central political force, which will be able to voice national interests without permanent debate,” Orban said.
“Governing Hungary, the community of Hungarian people means more than just offering better welfare and security,” Orban said in the article to appear in the right-leaning weekly Nagyitas.
Government should be driven by a sense of a “Hungarian quality of existence,” which stems from a unique vision shared by the community, he said.
“This cultural essence (…), something that differentiates us from other national groups, is what governments should be looking to preserve,” he said.
Orban said society lacked role models, both economic and cultural, to look up to, and merely assesses narrow political performance.
The current government has failed in two ideas on which it has built its intellectual identity: a balance between the individual and the community and a belief that the market should have the upper hand, Orban said.
MTI has been told that the article is an edited version of a speech Orban delivered on September 5, entitled “Concept, vision and Strategy on the Future Role of Culture”.
“voice national interests without permanent debate”
Sounds more like a kind of “benevolent dictatorship” to me than democracy, and that might go on for 20 years …
I hope for some analysis of this speech, anyone to oblige ?
He would look like a rubbish dictator
…

lol? More like “I want complete control over all hungarians
well we know he wants complete control for a long time. The way he presents himself is clear enough!
Also remember, he has a nice EU job! Look into that, then you will see hungarian intrests are not in his mind or heart for that matter.
We know the EU stands for destroying the nation states and one of the tools to achieve this is massimmigration of non europian immigrants…
Hope the hungarians will open their eyes, before Budapest looks like London and other big cities in western europe with all the problems involved…

For me these 2(?) statements are the most interesting
What is this
“something that differentiates us from other national groups”?
Any suggestions:
* Palinka?
(No, alcohol from fruit even exist in Sweden)
* Corruption?
(No, the Italians are better on that)
* “gypsycrime”?
(No, same problem in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Romania)
* Wine with added sugar to increase the alcohol-content?
(No, the Austrians have that also)
* Trianon?
(No, the Russians think the lost Soviet Empire is their ‘Trianon’)
* Forints?
Yes, who wants Forints?
The Forint is the “something that differentiates us from other national groups” obviously
Viking: Very funny. When I went to Ukraine, I spent hours walking around trying to find a bank or exchange where I could change my Forints to гривня, I just got blank looks and questions like “Forint? From where?”
The recipe according to Orban> hot air, apple pie in the sky,equivocation,and no substance.
Dreams of duplicity and the never-ending gravy train of inferior politicians from whichever party they represent.
Hungarians can look forward to a bright Orange future – safe in the knowledge that Orbi and his partners have everything under control.
The outgoing Reds have messed up everything to such an extent that the combined efforts of the IMF/EU/WorldBank could do nothing to rescue the situation.
Tourism, business investment, GDP, Tax reform,
new constitution, corruption, scandals, misappropriation of public funds, embezzlement,
ancient Local Council administration, useless government, poor transport, inferieor education programmes, agriculture in the doldrums, millions without work, businesses closures, mass emigration of talented Hungarians, hundreds of thousands of Hungarians working abroad to earn a living….
Just for starters. Orban Viktor is past his sell-by date and all the other so-called politicians that have as much idea of how to run this country as the man in the moon.

Orbán’s vision is shaping nicely, it’ll be 15-20 years indeed.

As László Kéri, political scientist and friend from Orbán’s university days put it:
“The situation will resemble the period of consolidation after 1963 until the middle of the 1970s: those who don’t question the regime can live and work in peace. They can travel. There will be plenty of time to read fiction and listen to music. It will be a familiar kind of life for many”
