Around 500 university students demonstrated on Tuesday in the southern Slovakian town of Komarno in defence of their right to use the mother tongue.
Students who spoke at the peaceful demonstration in the town with a large ethnic Hungarian population also voiced support for the principles of tolerance and cooperation, but said that the Slovak state language law – which is seen as limiting the rights of minorities to use their mother tongue – was unacceptable.
