Viktor Orban’s conservative Fidesz party could secure a two-thirds majority – needed to change the constitution — if an election were held now, according to a Nezopont poll commissioned by political weekly Heti Valasz.
In the third week of February, Fidesz had the backing of 42 percent of active voters in the sample compared to 11 percent for the ruling Socialists and 9 percent for radical nationalist party Jobbik, said the report carried in Thursday’s Magyar Nemzet.
The number of uncertain voters has shrunk since January from 47 percent to 42 percent, according to Nezopont, a right-leaning think-tank.
