Collection of electoral nomination forms at half-way stage

The period for gathering electoral nomination forms has now reached the half-way mark.

The Socialist Party has collected the 750 forms necessary for nomination in all 176 individual constituencies, party spokeswoman Bernadett Budai told Inforádió on Monday.

She said the party will submit the forms to local election committees later in the week.

Democratic Forum spokesman Szabolcs Kerék-Bárczy said his party would like to field candidates in all the individual constituencies and will be able to field regional lists everywhere.

Politics Can Be Different campaign chief Gergely Karácsony said a dozen candidate nominations will be registered this week, with several politicians already close to collecting the 750 forms necessary.

Jobbik has collected nomination forms in all but one constituency and the remaining needed will be collected in a day or two, the far-right party’s campaign chief Gábor Szabó said. Fidesz had no data on Monday.

The parties have until March 19 to collect the necessary number of nomination forms in order to stand in Hungary’s individual constituencies.
