Socialists not to support Fidesz against Jobbik in 2nd round

The Socialist party’s candidates will not step down in favour of main opposition Fidesz in the second round of elections, Socialist prime minister candidate Attila Mesterhazy said on Monday.

Addressing a local residents’ forum, Mesterhazy was responding to a question by an activist of the radical nationalist Jobbik.

“A democrat will only step down in favour of a democrat,” Mesterhazy said.

If a candidate fails to receive enough votes in the first round to stand a realistic chance of winning, he has the option of stepping down in the second round and help another candidate win that constituency.

Is Mesterhazy backing of his promise to step back in favor of Fidesz candidates in districts where they are losing (there will be many of those) and Fidesz is having a hard time against Jobbik.
It is funny that the Fidesz and MSZP charges that Jobbik is a creation of Fidesz or MSZP falling apart in their joining of forces against the only party that puts Hungary first. It did not take long for the Fidesz and MSZP Communists to join forces and show their true colors, the red.
What difference does it make here when only Law has the vote? The hyenas do not vote :-)

    Where did Mesterhazy promise that?

I gather that you set no store by FIDESZ. But is there not a chance that it will come good? The last Orbán government did not do at all badly. Hungary was touted as the model ex-communist state at that time. And from all I could see, there was a promising-looking future then. One must of course wonder about the austerity measures. And admittedly, Orbán did not look at all good last year, when three of his chaps ‘accidentally’ voted with the Socialist on the pensions issue.
I hold out the hope that Orbán is a canny politician, so he has been making (light) Jobbik-critical remarks because he does not mean to saddle his party’s return to government with the international media screaming ‘right wing extremism’ at him. (????)
(By the way, I have the vote too.)

@Elle: If you think Fidesz are about to have a love in with Jobbik, you should start reading the Hungarian news in Hungarian. Your poster boy Bayer Zsolt has gone AWOL on you: http://www.magyarhirlap.hu/hatter/nyilt_level_vona_gabornak.html

    Wait and see.

Good for you Elle! That makes two Hungarian voters with Law. Not a lot of Hungarian voters on a list so involved and so opinionated about Hungary, Hungarian people and Hungarian politics.
All these unselfish people only want what is best for Hungary and Hungarians. They all must be Jobbik supporters
