Hungary’s Local Government Minister has called for crafting a new economic model for managing the social crisis that emerged from the global economic crisis.
Attending a two-day informal meeting with his EU colleagues in Malaga, Zoltan Varga told MTI on Wednesday that the new model must incorporate sustainable, innovative and knowledge-based components and be in line with the European Union’s cohesion policy.
Varga stressed that local and regional councils must be given a bigger role in working out and implementing the model.
