European Commission President Barroso congratulates Orbán on sweeping win

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso congratulated Fidesz leader Viktor Orban on the election victory of his Fidesz party on Sunday evening.

Over the phone and in a written message, Barroso said that Orban’s “clear election victory” was based on a pro-European programme and a strong commitment to European values.

In the message, Barroso wrote, “you will come into office at a crucial time, as Hungary and other member states need to act consistently to respond to the challenges of the economic crisis.”

“The European Union has already showed unity and solidarity to help member states finding their way out of the crisis. Likewise, the adoption and implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy will be a priority for the near future, and we count on your commitment and support,” Barroso said, wishing Orban every success in his work as prime minister.

Ofcourse Orbán belongs to the same group of people as Borroso! Up to a federal state, that’s their goal!
I hope and pray that the hungarians will see who Orbán and Fidesz really is very soon.

    S what’s bad about that ?

there is a lot bad about that EU project! In the first place that we didn’t ask for it!
But what is more important here is that Orbán (Fidesz) never was honost about this goal to the hungarian public! If they did tell them, then they never had a majority in parlement today.

Orban’s first speech and his press conference was Hungarian oriented. He knows that his popularity would plummet if he tried to sell the global line.
We have to see how much of his nemzeti posturing is real and how much of it is fake.
No need to be too impatient

Well, Hungary did actually ask to join the EU
And the people were approved the accession in a referendum
That Fidesz is a pro-EU party is hardly a new thing?
Fidesz is a member of the European Peoples Party (EPP) and Orban is one of its Vice-Presidents
EPP is one of the most pro-EU you can find, so there is no secret here
