The Hungarian government’s planned media package does not fit into the European norms of pluralism and diversity, the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) said in a statement on the draft media package in Brussels.
The measures would turn the clock back to the era when Hungary was under communist rule and the media lived in the shadow of state supervision, the statement added.
The EFJ and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) called on the government to revoke the proposal and to launch a comprehensive public debate.
Civil groups also criticised the media package at a meeting of the House cultural committee on Wednesday.
After the meeting Fidesz MP Antal Rogán announced that motions for amendment will be submitted to the draft media package.
It’s not as easy beginning a dictatorship as it was 50 or 100 years ago …
However there is an even greater anachronistic and ethnocentric agenda for Central European Jews (“Ashkenazi”) for their claiming the name “Jew.” They retroject the label even to the patriarch Abraham, now the mythological founder of 5th-6th century Talmudic Jewishness. Again, the fact is that most of those Central European Jews and hence most U.S. Jews from Central Europe are descended from Khazars, a people who accepted the Jewish religion in the 8th century A.D. They did so, it seems, to be unencumbered by either Byzantine Christendom or Islam. They chose to “convert” to one of the three non-Muslim religions of the book mentioned in the Qur’an. (Further information about these Khazar American can be found on the following web site: http://www.khazaria.com/ and http://198.62.75.1/www2/koestler/.)
@Law
I believe that you are correct. There is much evidence to support the claim that the people who call themselves Jews have no historical or biological connection to biblical Jews.
All this garbage about the Kun, Rakosi, Gero, Apro, Lieberman and the rest of these misfits being Semites is lunacy. The expression anti-Semite is even crazier.
They clearly have common traits but they are not Semitic traits. Modern day mafia would be closest thing that comes to mind, an international criminal organization.
@Law
I’ve read that the vast majority of Ashkenazi jews have been shown genetically to have descended from those jews who left the middle east during Roman times, and that they have more such genetic material than many other jewish groups, including the Ethiopian jews. I recently read that Sephardic jews have been shown to be more closely related, genetically, to the Ashkenazi than previously thought, probably because they continued to intermarry through northern Italian jewish groups after the Spanish Inquisition caused them to move in large groups to the middle east.
Besides, how does your comment relate to this article? You sound like one of those self-hating jews. You might be one and not realize it. Have you looked all the way through all of your ancestors and gotten proof that none of them Magyarized their jewish names to fit in? If not, then you should really stop obsessively commenting about an irrelevant ethnic label, ere you end up slandering your own ancestry.
Unfortunately, in the New Testament the word ” Judean ” is sometimes mistranslated as ” Jew “. This has helped lend support to the utterly erroneous notion that Jesus was a Jew.
Law: Let’s face it. The only reason this matters so much to you is so you can justify hating the Jews while calling yourself Christian and trying to take some morally superior position. To be honest, Jesus could have been a Mexican on a round the world tour for all I care…the point is that your hatred of Jews is immoral regardless of religion or historical perspective. As they say “You can’t polish a turd.”
My view is simply highlighting the facts which expose current historical, religious and political scenes.
You just hate the facts and don’t want to believe that you wasted all these years learning shit, so basically you’re protecting you’re egotistical position.
@all:
Law is just a lunatic Jew-hater who calls himself a Christian whose comment on everything that is written here can be summarised in his famous statement:
“Jesus was not a Jew!”
This of course like everything else he posts is stolen/copied from who-knows-where.
So let’s just ignore him.
Haha, Law, sometimes you do make me smile. I actually had a deeply satisfying day today. I got to work with a fantastic bunch of students from all over the world, I had great conversation with my colleagues, and I got to attend an excellent sociology lecture comparing China and Vietnam in historical and political contexts. At the end of the lecture I got to talk to the Professor, who in the end liked what I said so much he asked if I could comment on an article he is writing for publication. I wrote to my Mum tonight and remarked at the end, “sometimes I really love having a brain.”

Law, I like what I do. It is interesting, challenging, and fun. I do take a certain pride in what I do because I believe it is valuable and relevent. I do what I do to the best of my ability and put my heart and soul into it. It has taken me a long time, and a lot of hard work, and I have had to fight through incredible set backs to get here.
-
Is the issue for you really more to do with jealousy or resentment for me having done well? Don’t you believe that people should have the right to enjoy the fruits of their labour? You seem so concerned with my ego, which to me suggests that the deeper problem is your own insecurity and poor self-image.
@ Cinaed
Glad all is well. Enjoy your students.
If you were Law, you would be justified to have a poor self image ad be insecure as well. Give the guy some credit.
Shame he and LHVJ cannot be in Toronto for the next few days
The G20 Summit started today and I have never seen so much security downtown and the surrounding areas. Temporary walls are erected
around the summit’s catchment area and it seems like thousands of cops and RCMP officers have been brought in from other jurisdictions.
Several Office towers closed down and employees are working at home to avoid the security checks.
As luck would have it, Toronto had a slight earthquake yesterday ,I think the last one was in the 1940′s but I am no sure. Point is that Conspiracy theorists are crawling out of the woodwork connecting the earth quake and the summit.
Anyway, if those two were in Toronto, we could add Communists and Jews / Communist Jews/ Nazi Germans and Nazi Israelis to the culprits . Not sure how, but I have every confidence in those two
to see the correlation. It would add some variety
to the paranoia.
@Cinaed
Reiterating..so basically you’re protecting you’re egotistical position.
@lawless:
If you were a farmer, you’d have potatoes as big as footballs …
After each G20 Summit there appears to be a major event escalate, so within 2 months I expect a war or false flag operation to happen.
lendvai complaining about media censorship…oh the irony!!!
@paul:
The article doesn’t say Lendvai was complaining – maybe she wishes to change from MSZP zo Fidesz to get back her old job …
Without taking any side on the Hungarian law, I almost broke my arse laughing when I read the part about “European norms of pluralism and diversity” in the media. The European media spans the broad spectrum from the fringe left to the center left, and all points in between, as long as Islam is not critisized in any way, or pictures of certain so-called prophets appear in any form.
@nagyember:
where do Berlusconi and Murdoch stand in your opinion ?
!The European media spans the broad spectrum from the fringe left to the center left”
Fringe left or center left ?
lendvai complaining about media censorship…oh the irony!!!

Allow me to make a minor correction:
lendvai’s ilk complaining about media censorship…oh the irony!!!
Wolfi,
As you undoubtedly know, Berlesconi and Murdoch are businessmen, not journalists. Please don’t be pedantic.
@kissember:
Evading the question again ?
What about the media that Murdoch and Berlusconi publish – which part of the “Left” do they belong To ?
wolfi
“which part of the “Left” do they belong To ?”
I know which part of left you belong to.
You’re a critter evolution “left” behind.
Wolfi,
You reveal your smallness of character as well as intellect with your infantile attempts at an insult. Kiss ember, huh? My 3 year old could come up with that one. There was no evasion in my statement. If you had read the original article, you would see that the quote with which I took exception was made by the august members of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ). To my knowledge, neither Berlesconi not Murdoch are members of that organization, so their political views are irrelevant to my statement, and your reaction to my observation was a non-sequitur. I have no intention of engaging in a pedantic argument with you over the political views of the owners of media outlets. My original observation of the hilarity of the EFJ denouncing anyone as not being sufficiently pluralistic and diverse stands, to which statement you have made no substantive contribution. If all you have to offer are juvenile insults and pedantic sophistry, I would humbly suggest you just skip it altogether. I don’t post on here unless I have something constructive to say, but I read the posts of constant kibbutzers like yourself. My suggestion would be to concentrate more on quality, and less on quantity.
My original observation of the hilarity of the EFJ denouncing anyone as not being sufficiently pluralistic and diverse stands…

@nagyon kiss ember:
You wrote not about journalists, but:
“The European media spans the broad spectrum from the fringe left to the center left …”
So again:
The media controlled by Berlusconi and Murdoch, which are a sizable part of European media, which part of the left do they belong to ?
PS: Of course for a real Nazi – everything else is “extreme left” …
@wolfi
PS: Of course for a real Nazi – everything else is “extreme left” …
wolfi at June 25, 2010 12:23 PM
That is right wolfi boy, anyone with whom you disagree is a Nazi. You sound like you could be a dues paying member of the EFJ. First, if you read the article, you would see that quote I took issue with references journalists, not businessmen. Even if Berlusconi and Murdoch are the right wing zealots (no doubt closet Nazis as well) that you think they are, saying that two owners of media outlets are not lefties bears no logical relationship to the assertion that the European Federation of “Journalists” is an entirely non-pluralistic and un-diverse entity. That would be like countering the assertion that “All Germans are mouth-breathing cretins” with the observation that Beethoven and Goethe were German, and they weren’t complete assholes. FYI, the product that most of the outlets owned by Murdoch and Berlusconi put out would be best classified as “infotainement,” not really journalism and certainly not overly political. It isn’t really germane that their personal political worldview is right of center, as I stated before, they are businessmen, and don’t put their political views in the way of making money. Since you don’t seem to be able to focus and follow a logical discourse, you may talk to the (virtual) hand from this point on.
PS-Congratulations! Adding two more syllables to your previously 3 year old level insult has raised your literary acumen to that of a 7 year old. Soon you will be rivaling Goethe for honors as brilliant German masters of prose.
